2017 Season Tryouts

Greetings parents and players!  The tryout schedule for both the in house and traveling leagues has been set.  Tryouts for the Traveling League will be held on Saturday, March 18 while In House will have tryouts on Sunday, March 19.  Both tryouts will be in the Chaska High School gyms. The following are the details and the schedule for each of the age levels within each league:

Traveling League: 
Parents must accompany each player to assist with check in, uniform sizing, and to attend an important parent meeting prior to tryouts.  Parents are not allowed to be in the gym during tryouts.  Players should bring batting helmets with mask, fielding masks, gloves, bats, a water bottle, and wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing.  A copy of the players birth certificate and an updated photo should also be presented at the time of check in.  If multiple teams are formed at a given age level, teams will be formed based on ability.  The schedule is as follows:

8U: 
Check In and Uniform Sizing:  1:45-2:15
Parent Meeting (In H.S. Commons):  2:15-2:30
Tryouts:  2:30-3:30

10U: 
Check In and Uniform Sizing:  3:00-3:30
Parent Meeting (In H.S. Commons):  3:30-3:45
Tryouts:  3:45-5:15*
*Pitchers and catchers will also be evaluated during this time.

12U:
Check In and Uniform Sizing:  4:45-5:15
Parent Meeting (In H.S. Commons): 5:15-5:30
Tryouts:  5:30-7:30*
*Pitchers and catchers will also be evaluated during this time.

In House - In Main Gym
Evaluations will be focusing on fielding, throwing, hitting, catching fly-balls, and pitching for those players that would like to pitch.  The purpose of the evaluations is to form the teams evenly.  Teams will not be formed at the A-B-C levels.  Every player that is registered will be placed on a team.  Players should bring a batting helmet with mask, bat, glove, water bottle, and wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.  Extra helmets and bats will be provided if needed.  Parents that have volunteered to coach are invited to help with evaluations.  We will need about 4-6 coaches for the tryouts to run quickly and smoothly.  We also need a few volunteers to help with check in and uniform sizing.  A volunteer sign up will be placed in DIBS on the CYSA website shortly.  These hours will count towards the mandatory volunteer requirement.

K/1/2:
Check in and uniform sizing:  12:15-12:45
Parent Meeting in H.S. Commons:  12:45-1:00
Tryouts:  1:00-2:00

3/4:
Check in and uniform sizing:  1:30-2:00
Parent Meeting in H.S. Commons:  2:00-2:15
Tryouts:  2:15-3:30

5/6, 7/8, High School:
Check in and uniform sizing:  3:00-3:30
Parent Meeting in H.S. Commons:  3:30-3:45
Tryouts:  3:45-5:00
