Traveling Softball - Fall Season Information

Registration

Registration for the fall traveling softball season is typically in July Registration information will be posted on the CYSA website and social media.  However, it is ultimately the players and parents responsibility to seek out registration information. Registration for fall is at the age group which the player will participate in the following spring/summer, MN Softball allows NO EXCEPTIONS. A registration deadline will be announced online and may be different each year.  Players that register after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list.  If numbers permit at that age level or at the Board’s discretion, the player may be placed on a team.

CYSA teams for Fall Softball play in the Minnesota Softball Fall Ball League.  The fall season is a developmental league for those individuals to prepare for the next spring/summer season. Fall league provides an opportunity for your players to learn about the game and gain experience playing fastpitch.  It is an excellent introduction to the "travel" team environment at a higher level of play.  For all age levels (8,10,12,14,16, 18 & Under), the season begins in the middle of August and runs through the end of September.  Games are played in the south-west metro area but could also occur in the greater metro area depending on game schedule. Teams will have 1-2 practices per week.  USA Softball rules apply.  For Fall ball we play rain or shine.  Double-header games are typically scheduled at noon, 1:30, 3:00, and 4:30 pm on Saturdays (8U and 10U) and Sundays (12U and 14U), subject to change.

Team Selection

Teams are created using the following guidelines:

  • Selection from eligible players (see policy on Eligibility) at that age group – the number of players on each team is ideally 12.
  • Players desiring to play up if a position is available (see policy on “Playing Up”)
  • Players from outside the eligibility area if needed to field a team.

Team selection is the ultimate decision of the Board. A committee may be appointed to review tryout and all other available information
